SCHOOL VISION STATEMENT
We aim to be an inclusive, innovative, effective school striving for students to reach their full potential.
We work together as a school community towards common goals, ensuring students are provided
with a safe and supported environment.
Herne Hill Primary School opened in 1922 and had one teacher and 30 children. By the end of the year, there were 57 students and two teachers. The timber construction, with an iron roof, consisted of two classrooms and teachers’ quarters were built near by.
In 1967, a new brick building was constructed and the original building was moved and became the community hall at
St Michael’s Church.
Over the course of many years the school has grown to include a canteen, covered assembly area, library, music room, additional classrooms and an administration block. The school is fully air-conditioned and the grounds are extensive and well maintained.
In 2010, a three-classroom early childhood block, music room and Visual Art room were built. These new classrooms have interactive whiteboards. The undercover area was further modified and a sport store was built.
Children have access to computers in their classrooms or in mini labs set up in classroom blocks.
